Why Am I Writing A Newsletter?

After I stopped running my first business because of the pandemic, I didn’t think I’d ever want to work for myself again. Spoiler alert: I was so wrong. (For some background, you can check out this blog post from late last year).

In 2020, I joined a top direct-to-consumer marketing agency called Common Thread Collective. I learned a ton, burnt out, took a break, and then joined what I thought would be a dream job - Head of Marketing, Brand & Community at a mission-driven, VC-backed startup in the fin-tech space.

Welp, I learned pretty quickly that this was not the place for me. Something about the work, industry, and team dynamic wasn’t working. I realized that I missed the fun-loving and creative energy that goes into building direct-to-consumer brands. And I realized how important it is for me to be around leaders who study and care about cultivating company culture.

I wanted something more; I wanted more impact; more creativity; more of my unique POV as an entrepreneur, a woman of color, and an old millennial to guide and lead in the magic of solving real problems that improve people’s lives. Looking for a job seems soul sucking right now. So instead, here I am, going out on my own again! Meet: Arshiya Kherani, Startup & Leadership Coach: a brown girl who loves entrepreneurship, strategy, empowerment, and a damn good story. I’m SO EXCITED to lean into only the projects and people I love and believe in from here on out. If you feel stuck in any way: in your business, in your professional life, in a situation, I’m your girl. Let’s problem solve it together.

So! Back to the newsletter: Nobody Asked Arshiya. Why am I writing it? Because even though nobody asked, I believe that bits of my story can impact yours, and visa versa. I’m looking forward to this being a cool little place on the internet where we can hang out and jam about the sh*t that matters to us.
